Welcome!

Welcome to the University of Chicago Computer Science Department's Instructional Laboratories! The facilities are primarily for those enrolled in CS courses, or doing programming-related work, however all are welcome to take full advantage of the lab. By using any equipment located in the lab you agree to be familiar with and abide by the lab's policies. Those who do not abide by them will face the consequences - ranging from a frowning tutor to loss of lab privileges.

Here's a current list of minicourses offered in the Maclab this quarter. They are open to everyone. Also, CS classes may reserve the lab for tutorials. These take precedence over other users and it is often hard to find a machine while the lab is reserved. Check to see if any lab reservations conflict with your plans.

Who are those people at the front of the lab? They're a group of experts known as Tutors. They're here to answer any questions you might have and assist you with any problems. If the tutor on duty can't help you with your problem, he will probably refer you to another tutor who knows more about it.

If you have a suggestion or comment we'd like to hear from you. If you've ever wondered why we did something in particular, wanted to request we get a specific piece of software, or comment on a particular tutor, this is your chance.
